Print-on-Demand: Turn Your Ideas into Real Collectibles (T-Shirts in Minutes)
Let’s get serious for a second.
If you love Dungeons & Dragons, you don’t just love rules… you love creativity.
And if you love creativity, you’re not only a maker… you’re a creator.
Which means: sooner or later, you’re going to want to create your own collectibles.
A custom T-shirt for your D&D nights.
A legendary gift for your Dungeon Master.
A shirt with that iconic quote your friend screamed right before rolling a Nat 1.
Or a party T-shirt for the whole team.
And the best part?
You don’t need a business.
You don’t need stock.
You don’t need a factory.
You just need Canva + Print-on-Demand.
What is “Print-on-Demand”?
Print-on-Demand means you design something (like a T-shirt)…
and the platform prints it only when you order it.
No bulk orders. No boxes at home. No risk.
Just design → preview → order → delivered.
Step-by-Step: How to Create a D&D T-Shirt in Canva (Beginner-Proof)
✅ Step 1 — Create your Canva account
-
Go to canva.com
-
Create an account (takes under a minute)
-
You can use Canva for free, but the paid version unlocks extra powers (more on that later)
For this example, we’re going to use this image of Alyra, an incredible character from the Kwasar Chronicles of Heroes saga that you’ll get to know very soon in upcoming chapters.

This illustration is downloadable, and you’re free to use it to follow this tutorial step by step on your own computer, exactly as I’ll explain below.
To save it, just do what you’ve already learned:
press and hold on the image with your finger (or right-click if you’re on a computer) and save it to your device.
And that’s it.
From that moment on, the image is yours.
You now have your character ready to create your first Kwasar Chronicles of Heroes T-shirt.
✅ Step 2 — Start a T-shirt design
-
On the Canva home page, look at the left menu
-
Click Create (the “+” button)
-
In the search bar, type: T-shirt
-
Select a T-shirt design template / product mockup
-
Canva opens a design page where you can build your shirt visually

✅ Step 3 — Upload your character art or Lore images
When you enter Canva’s T-shirt designer, a blank T-shirt template appears, ready for you to design on it—just like the one shown in the image below.

,mmmmm
-
On the left side, click Uploads
-
Upload an image from your device
(Example: a character illustration you created, or any image you downloaded from the Lore of Kwasar Chronicles of Heroes, such as the image of Alyra you just downloaded and that we’ll use for this tutorial.) -
To make it even easier, if you don’t want to click on Canva’s upload icon, you can simply drag the image from wherever you have it saved—your desktop or a folder—directly onto the T-shirt canvas.
Boom — your design starts existing in real life.

Use a transparent PNG logo (optional)
If you have a PNG logo with transparent background, it’s perfect for shirts.
-
Upload the PNG
-
Drag it into your design
-
Place it above the character, on the sleeve, or on the back
This instantly makes the shirt look like official merch.
Just below, I’m sharing the “Kwasar Chronicles of Heroes” logo in PNG format with a transparent background, ready for you to download. As I’ve shown you before, simply tap the image with your finger and save it to your device.
Once downloaded, you can start using it right away to design your first Kwasar Chronicles of Heroes T-shirt—or any other creative project you have in mind.

Drag the logo onto your design and place it wherever you think it looks best.

✅ Step 4 — Position your image properly
-
Click the image and Logo
-
Resize them
-
Place the image wherever you want (the centre of the chest is a classic choice), and then place the logo on top of the image.
-
Make sure the Logo looks readable and clean
⭐ Step 5 — (Optional but powerful) Remove the background
This is the “pro move”.
-
Click your image
-
On the top bar, look for BG Remover
-
Click it

Canva removes the background so your character looks clean, cinematic, and professional on fabric.

⚠️ Note: BG Remover is usually a premium Canva feature.
You can still do a lot for free, but honestly… if you’re going to create collectibles often, premium is worth it.
✅ Step 6 — Add text (the legendary quote/name/party title)

-
On the left menu, click Text
-
Choose a font style you like
-
Add:
-
Your character name
-
The party name
-
A funny quote
-
A DM title
-
Anything iconic
-

There are countless fonts, templates, and styles available in Canva.
We chose the one circled in the image above as an example, but feel free to pick any style you like.
For this demo, we simply typed “Alyra”, the name of this character—but you can write anything:
a funny quote, a memorable in-game phrase, a creative title, or an inspiring message.
This is a very basic T-shirt design tutorial, just to get you started. From here, you can refine it, experiment, and push it much further.
And remember—we know there’s a creator inside you.
And creators have infinite creativity.

✅ Step 7 — Preview the T-shirt on a model (the “wow” moment)
Canva shows a mockup preview, with a model wearing your T-shirt.
Make sure you have “Print with Canva” selected in the top-right toolbar. This will enable the print menu on the right side of the screen, where you can see the live preview, choose your settings, and follow all the steps to print your T-shirt using Canva’s Print on Demand service.

In Canva’s Print on Demand menu, you can zoom in on the model wearing your T-shirt design, allowing you to see exactly how it will look from different angles and with full clarity.
Take your time to analyze the preview and decide whether you’re happy with the final result or if you want to make any changes before printing.

Check:
-
Is the design too big?
-
Too small?
-
Too low?
-
Does it look clean?
Adjust until it feels “store-ready”.
✅ Step 8 — Choose shirt style, colour, and size
When you’re ready to order:
-
Choose the shirt colour (black looks insane for fantasy art)
-
Choose men/women/kids options (if available)
-
Choose your size (S / M / L / XL etc.)
-
Choose quantity (1 for you, or multiple as gifts for your party)

mmm

✅ Step 10 — Order it (Print-on-Demand magic)
Now you simply place the order.
The platform prints it for you and ships it to your door.
That’s Print-on-Demand.
You just created a real collectable from your imagination.
Why is this skill superhero-level
Because once you can do this, you can create:
-
Party merch
-
DM gifts
-
Funny quote shirts
-
Campaign souvenirs
-
Even your own mini “brand” of RPG collectables
This is how fans become creators.
And now you’ve unlocked it. 😎🎲🔥
